Psychological, Neuropsychological, and Educational Evaluations

Psychological, neuropsychological, and psycho-educational evaluations can be enormously helpful to a child.  It may not be that clear why your child isn't doing as well as s/he should be.  Or, your child may seem upset, unduly quiet, or oppositional; again, the reasons for this may seem unclear.  You may suspect that your child has ADHD or a learning disability.  You and your child's teachers may have thought it was clear what the problem was, but intervention doesn't seem to be helping as much as you'd hoped.  In all these, and many similar situations, testing can help to explain what's going on in greater detail and can provide concrete suggestions for how to help your child.

The decision to seek an evaluation for your child can be hard to make.  It's a big commitment of time and money, and the stakes can feel very high.  It's important to choose the right person for the job--somebody who will be able to really appreciate your child's strengths while also offering clarity and practical advice for helping you child deal with challenges.

You want to choose somebody who is very experienced, and whom you can utilize to work with your child's teachers and other professionals as necessary.  You also need somebody who can guide you in advocating for your child and who can help you get the services and accommodations your child may need.  Finally, you want somebody whom you can like and trust.  Obviously you want to know that your child is in the best possible hands.

I've produced this website to help you get to know more about me, and about the testing process.  If it seems like I can help you, please email me at BethKing@BethKingPhD.com, or give me a call at 212-222-7477.
